The Best Month of My Life:COSMOS {Dorm Life}

As you all know, I went to UC Davis, and got to experience the most amazing things. I'm so lucky to have gotten to go to COSMOS, and I would give almost anything to do it all over again. And yes, even go through the pain of my injured knee, the frustration of a stupid bike, and the missing of all my wonderful friends here in the Bay Area all over again. Lets just say that it was the best month of my life, the people were some of the nicest people I've ever met in my life, and the unforgettable memories will last me a lifetime. I'd like to share some of the memories I happened to capture with you guys.
So, lets start with my dorm life.

These first 4 photos were taken on one of my first nights staying in my dorm, 213B. My bed is on the left next to the window. On the right is my roommate's bed. As you may or may not be able to tell, these beds were extreeeemely tall. At least for a 5,2 person, like myself, it is. Lets just say that the beds reach the same height as the bottom of my rib cage. It's ridiculous. Most beds in this building are this height, and every time I have to make awkward maneuvers to get on to them.
STORY: One time when I was at my friend, Cynthia's, room I tried to dive on to her bed....5 times. None of those times worked out too well. Luckily I found a chair to help afterwards. We couldnt stop laughing for probably half an hour or so.
STORY: The first morning was weird waking up in a different room, and it took a couple of minutes to remember exactly where I was. I was apparently not fully alive either when I tried to get off my bed, because I fell off backwards and crashed into my roomie's bed. Awkward...
 Anyway, here are some closer looks at my side of the room. I made a collage of pictures of friends and family on my wall. Sometimes when I was alone I would just lay on my bed and stare at all the fun memories. Those pictures often helped me when I got lonely or missed home.
 I got a desk, chair, and bookshelf as well. I didn't really use my desk too often except for putting my keys and name tag on it, and also one of the drawers held all of my food. My shelf held pretty much all of my other stuff I brought that wasn't clothing. My clothing is in the dresser under the bed, or in the big closet behind me.
 My bed once again, and you can kind of see the door in the left corner of the photo. You can sort of tell how tall the bed is in this photo, because I'm holding the camera at eye level. Anyway, the dorms were pretty awesome. It was kind of like a hotel, because we were each assigned a suite. Each suite contained a common room, 3 dorm rooms, and 2 bathrooms. Only 2 of the dorm rooms were used though in our suite, and there were only 4 of us girls. My suite mates next door were very nice, but I didnt talk too much to them until the last week. It was really awkward for me, because my roommate didnt talk to me almost at all. I felt like I was Beca in Pitch Perfect when it came to this. I could tell that my roommate wanted nothing to do with me, so it was always pretty awkward. It was always really quiet comparison to my friends' dorms, but sometimes I was glad about that. It got lonely at times in my dorm, but I was lucky enough to have really good books, and awesome friends at home to keep me company over the phone.
This is our common room, and some of my friends in my cluster. We went to Rite-Aid and got a humungo bag of Starbursts. We really wanted to make bracelets with the wrappers, so instead of eating all of them like the fatties we are, we gave everyone in our cluster an origami box filled with Starbursts. We made quite a few bracelets.
This day was really fun. We danced, chatted, and sang... a lot. We sang mostly Pitch Perfect songs, and Cat and I did a fun, little duet, too. This was the day when I let bit of me come out for the first time, and I discovered that I really like to sing. This was the beginning of our singing everyday. We would sing while biking, in our dorms, outside at night, after meetings, in class, and soon enough in front of over 200 people at the COSMOS Talent Show.
I often stayed in the common room until late at night. I would read, eat, and talk on the phone until morning, and then I would move to my bed for the night. I liked that since I often felt awkward sitting in my room while my roommate was on her laptop, or sleeping.
 This is my suite mates' bathroom. We are doing one of my suite mate's hair for a party. This is the way we do it: 4 helpers, 2 straighteners, a bunch of other hair stuff, and of course a room fan in replacement of a hair dryer. I mean, who wouldn't use all of that?!
 My suite mates are the two Indian girls, Varna (the one getting her hair done) and Ruchi (the one using the fan). The other two girls are Laura and Sabrina who are in Varna's cluster.
I took this photo in my bathroom. I look weird in this photo, because I was talking to my mom on the phone about a rubber burn I had. The main reason I took this photo was, because I really liked the way my bun turned out and that it stayed perfect after a night of partying. By the way, this was the last night of the program.
 This was the ending product of a 3 night sleepover with some great girls! We watched movies, played Truth or Truth (because we couldn't do any dares due to the fact that we couldn't be noisy after curfew, and also because half of the girls weren't exactly supposed to be there.) These 3 nights were probably the best nights at my dorm.
Well, that wraps up the main details of my dorm life! I hope I didn't bore you guys to much!
lovelovelove,
Melissa
