COSMOS {Classroom}

During COSMOS, we had class everyday from 8:30 in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon. We had long days, but luckily we got breaks. We had class just like we would at normal school (Monday-Friday.) We went to breakfast before hand, then had a meeting at 8:30. After the meeting was done we would get our bikes and ride to the physics building where we had all of our classes. We would have class until lunch, and would ride back to the Segundo Dining Commons to eat. After eating we would have another meeting then ride back to the physics building where we had class until dinner time. Here is our classroom:
 We were given our own laptops to use during the program for our projects and research. At this moment when I took this photo I was pulling together a quick slideshow to use for my presentation.
Piyush, Christian, and Cat are working on poster work while listening to music. Music was always playing during project time and breaks. We were a pretty musical group of science nerds.
This is looking behind me (I sit in the first row) at all of my classmates working hard to finish last minute project stuff before the big presentation. This is generally what our class looks like during project time. There is usually a mix of people with faces of frustration, satisfaction, and concentration.
 Here is our black board with random work from others' projects.
 Here is a picture of my project coming along. I took this, because I was very satisfied (and so was my teacher, Chris) with myself for managing to get that picture on my slideshow with only 5 minutes left before class ended. That picture is the raw data of one of my stars I was working on.
Sergiy and Piyush are working hard using calculus and such to find numbers for their projects on the black board.

Our class had lots of fun for sure. We spent loads of time taking notes during lectures, stressing about our projects, and listening to music on YouTube. I say stressing, because there was a serious time crunch, and these projects were no where near easy. Sometimes i got a little overwhelmed with everything, and I had a couple of days. There was a day when I accidentally pushed the wrong button, and I lost all my data. I was really upset, and surprised myself a little when tears of frustration came. At the point I had to step out of the room, and sit outside on the stairs. I just needed to relax, and remind myself of some things. So... yea, there were definitely some fun times in class, but there were also some not so fun times too.
STORY: A couple of my friends and I would always go to the store before class and get a bunch of candy. The candy made class so much more relaxing, and it also kept us alert during some of the long, draining lectures.
STORY: I would always joke that me and a group of friends were the bad kids of the good kids. I would say that, because there were some kids that would be teachers pets and would talk to them during the entire time of our breaks. While they did that, we were on YouTube watching funny videos, and singing to music on Nathan's iPod.
I hope you guys enjoyed the short little post on our classroom.
lovelovelove,
Melissa
